Gardening

GardeningSide by Side has our own vegetable and herb garden, which we plant in the spring. We try and use as much of our food as possible each week. Students help in all areas of the garden, from planting, watering, fertilising, to picking. We study the food as it grows. Gardening is useful for fine and gross motor skills, increased understanding of the environment and where food comes from, physical activity and promoting a good work ethic and attitude. It is also very therapeutic to work outside in the fresh air, and rewarding to eat the products of our effort!
